Hand Painted Glass Lamp Shade
- Glass on which special paints (containing frit) have been applied in illustration or decorative pattern and then heated in a kiln to a temperature high enough to fuse the pigments permanently to the glass surface. The modern version of the original medieval "stained glass."

Only moments before being consigned to an ignominious fate this charming lamp (and its shade) were plucked from the very jaws of doom and transported safely to my home.
I know sculpted and tasseled lamp shades are not everyone's cup of Darjeeling but I happen rather to like them. This hand painted milk-glass lamp and a lovely brass floor lamp found their way into my possession this very afternoon. I think it makes a delightful compliment to my Eastlake chest of drawers.
